AC or DC

Post content copied from http://saymediapro.com/blog/raymond-say/motor-requirements

I was doing research today on what kind of motor would work for our plans.
I found that in most cases in a DC motor, any kind of regenerative braking would only increase our range by 10%.
If an AC motor is used the range increase varies from 30%-45% depending on the motor.
AC is more expensive, but due to its natural magnet build, is more efficient for what our design is for.  At this point I am leaning toward using an AC motor, and using a converter to go from the DC to AC bridge.  The specific motor / controller setup I have yet to finalize.
I will post more information as it comes available.
